In order to support the need to allow some students to start over and some to bring their data to a new goal/ semester, we recommend that schools update the scopes in their EdReady site so that:
- All students - even those with previous work in that scope - will start over from scratch by default
- If there are any Students that should not start over – that is, they should continue their work from the previous semester/ goal - their accounts can be edited by the EdReady Admin to manually carry their data forward.

Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Can students move their data to a new goal?
A: Once you change the settings on the scope (Maximum study paths) to greater than one, students lose their ability to move their own data & an Admin will need to make any adjustments in data alignments.
Q: How can we prevent students from making progress in-between semesters?
A: If you want to prevent your students from working in their study paths, you have a couple of options:
-
-
- Remove goals from your students' accounts - note that this will have to be done for each student individually.
- You can also make the goal(s) from this semester Inactive - this would remove them from any students' Dashboard when they log in, so they'd have no way to access it.
-
When a goal is removed or inactivated, none of the data is deleted & when the student re-joins that goal they will pick up right where they left off. (If you remove a goal from a student's account, the associated data will also be hidden in the reports while the student is not in a goal.)
Q: Can instructors see the work a student did in a past semester?
A: Instructors will only have access to students/ data in the goals that are associated with their account. If you want the instructor to have access to students that are not in their goal assignments, you have the following options:
-
-
- Move the students' data to this instructors goals... this could get pretty tedious if you do it for every Tier/ Goal for every student, so you may want to just move the ones they're still working on.
- Give the instructor access to see the other goals (from the last semester) their students are working in:
You can either assign the individual goals or use the Hierarchy to give them access to see all the goals that the previous semester's instructor can see (though this could give them access to more than they need).
